INJURED PINEAPPLE SOUL
By Jennifer Nicole Leibowitz
I am a blooming butterfly
Bountiful wings head up in the sky
Doubting, hoping, feeling, needing
Now I’m flying, but I keep on reaching
Rainbow aura to hide the sickness
Green-eyed golden locks to witness
I am a ghoulish butterfly
Injured wings not up in the sky
Shrieking, screaming, crying, weeping
Confused how to fly, I keep on seeking
Tethered soul and easy to hide
Wishing one day to be glorified
Wings of an injured pineapple soul
Searching for answers to make it feel whole
Wings of an angel tormented by time
Afraid of the unknown, to roll that dice
Wings of a toucan, colors galore
Concealed by beauty, and seeking much more
Bountiful butterfly let me fly
Bountiful butterfly you make me cry
Crystalized wings, where cherries should sing
Yet there is only darkness, no brightening
